Training Opportunities with Specific Investigators
Training in the Molecular Epidemiology of Pancreatic Cancer with Dr. Stolzenberg-Solomon
Dr. Stolzenberg-Solomon is looking for postdoctoral fellows who are interested in clarifying the etiology of pancreatic and other gastrointestinal cancer through various study design and molecular approaches. These include 1) cohort analyses of diet, nutrients, energy balance, dietary and lifestyle patterns; 2) molecular epidemiologic studies to investigate genetic, hormonal, and other nutrition related biomarkers in prospective studies; 3) using state-of-the-art analysis to assess the role of gene-nutrient/diet/environment interaction in pancreatic cancer; and 4) studying biologic mechanisms underlying epidemiologic risk factors. Dr. Stolzenberg-Solomon is a PI on several exciting pancreatic cancer studies involving the NCI Cohort Consortium (PanScan Genome Wide Association of Pancreatic Cancer), large cohorts, including the Prostate, Lung, Colon, and Ovary Cancer Screening Trial (PLCO), the Alpha-Tocopherol, Beta-Carotene Cancer Prevention Cohort (ATBC), the NIH AARP Diet and Health Study. These projects investigate the roles of genetics, nutrition related and molecular biomarkers, hormones, obesity, and inflammation in relation to cancer. In addition to having strong analytical skills, this position requires a solid understanding of cancer epidemiology and/or cancer biology. For more details on this opportunity, please contact Dr. Stolzenberg-Solomon.
